ETRANSLATE IS FIRST WEB GLOBALIZATION COMPANY
TO ACHIEVE ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION
San Francisco, California -- November 7, 2000 -- eTranslate, the leading provider of Web globalization solutions, today announced that it is the first company in the Web globalization industry to be recognized for its quality management system by the International Organization for Standards (ISO) based in Geneva, Switzerland. eTranslate earned the ISO 9001 certification for the processes it has developed to deliver its Web Globalization services to international companies.
eTranslate offers complete solutions for Web globalization that include technical applications, consulting, and linguistic services. eTranslate's international network allows seamless support of a company's global digital presence, regardless of its operating hours.
"eTranslate's ability to be ISO 9001 certified is a validation of its superior delivery and commitment to service excellence," said Rick Moradian, Senior Vice President of Operations at eTranslate. "This certification definitely raises the bar for the other companies in the industry that wish to remain competitive in the future."
The extent of the ISO 9001 registration at eTranslate included evaluation of eTranslate's localization engineering, employee training and development, operation of the company's global network of language professionals, quality assurance, sales procedures, and technical applications.
ISO certification was conducted by TÜV Essen, a certification body of TÜV Mitte AG (Germany), which provides a range of testing and certification services for more than 100 industries worldwide. TÜV Essen performed on-site assessments, examined documented procedures and surveyed eTranslate's overall operations. To determine continued compliance, TÜV Essen will periodically conduct routine surveillance audits of eTranslate's operations and quality assurance programs.
"In my experience, a relatively young company achieving ISO 9001 certification in the very first audit without having had a preliminary audit is uncommon," said Sham Beri, Lead Auditor, TUV-Essen "We found eTranslate's quality management system to be compliant with ISO 9001, which is the most comprehensive standard because it includes design controls, engineered processes and in-depth verification and validation of quality practices."
About the International Organization for Standards The ISO 9000 Standard was written by representatives from the United States and 14 European countries. The requirements of the Standard are aimed primarily at achieving customer satisfaction by preventing nonconformity at all stages, from production through servicing. The requirements include management, leadership, a pro-active and well-trained work force, customer feedback, measurement, documentation, internal audits, continuous improvement, and third party validation.
